Remember to visit Getloaded's booth (#14063) at GATS, Aug. 21-23, at the Dallas Convention Center in Dallas, TX - there will be free Getloaded t-shirts for all members who stop on by and say hello!
The Great American Trucking Show is upon us once again. Most of the time it depends on whether or not you've got a load going the right way, but if you're heading to Dallas for GATS this year, here are some ideas to really make the most of your time (and your miles of walking).
Be Prepared to Learn: Treat it like a business trip. There is some fun to be had, but ultimately you are investing time and money to learn more about ways you can improve your business. These events are a great place to gather information on the concerns that are important to you, discover new equipment or services, or connect with companies with which you do business, like sitting down face-to-face with an executive from a company like Getloaded to have him/her assist you in solving your business challenges.
Research in Advance: Be sure to check out the trade show's website before you head for the entrance. If there's a seminar you want to attend, you may need to pre-register to get a seat. Scope out the vendors that you know you want to talk to and plan an efficient route with the exhibitor map.
Use Your Smartphone: If you have a smartphone, a lot of the bigger shows are now offering their own apps that give you instant access to maps, vendor listings, the show schedule and more.
Get the Scoop via Social Media: If you're savvy on social media, you can also keep up with all the best offers at the show. Most shows will also have particular "hashtag" that vendors will use on Twitter and Facebook - for example, search #GATS and #GATS2014 and you'll find out about contests, prizes, deals and freebies that companies are offering.
One Caution: The entrance and exit can get pretty congested, so don't wait so late to leave the show that you're going to have to run hard to make your next delivery deadline.
