Time For You To Go, Old Man Winter

English
Body:

I bet you are among the millions who can’t wait for this winter to be over! The snowy, icy, slip-sliding-away weather has created some major inconveniences for truckers needing to get from point A to point B in recent days, and we can only hope the worst is over.

“The second major snowstorm to hit the Mid-Atlantic region in a week is paralyzing traffic in Pennsylvania, a hub state for freight moving to and from the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states,” reported The Journal of Commerce after blizzard take-deux struck on February 9th, which occurred only a few days after the first whiteout of 2010 on February 5th and 6th.

Because of the dangerous road conditions, Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell actually had to close some interstate highways. That shutdown included a long stretch of I-81, a major truck artery, from I-80 to the Pennsylvania-Maryland border.

While some truckers decided to stay off the snow-covered highways on their own accord, others thought they could still plow through. "Even though I can safely work my way down the road, Pennsylvania will give me a several hundred dollar ticket if I do," one driver stuck in Luzerne county, Pennsylvania told WNEP News.

Tell us: how are you coping with the wintry weather?
