This year’s 2009 Truck Show Latino ¾ billed as the only major U.S. truck show for Hispanic/Latino truckers ¾ will be held at the Fairplex in Pomona, Calif. on October 17 and 18. And there are a lot of reasons to attend, but one of the biggest is all of the free events!
Events include a free presentation by the California Air Resources Board on what drivers need to know about reducing air pollution and making sure their truck is compliant with state laws, as well the funding resources available to help cover the costs of compliance. Later on, CARB will make another free presentation on the subject of “Driving Toward a Cleaner Future: Important Facts for Truck Owners and Operators,” which will be delivered in both English and Spanish. And the free presentations don’t stop there. Another seminar is available to all on the basics of lubrication and filtration presented by the “Oil Twins,” Casey & Andy Jones.
Jobs are all-important in this economy, so if you’re looking for an opportunity as a driver, make sure the Truck Show Latino is on your calendar ¾ “major players” in the industry will be there looking to hire.
According to the Truck Show Latino website, there are more than one million commercial Hispanic driver licenses in the country, 480,000 Class 8 operators, and 268,800 Hispanic owner-operators. Citing the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Truck Show Latino says 15 percent of the nation’s 3.2 million truck drivers are Hispanic.
The show runs Saturday, October 17 from 10AM to 5PM, and Sunday, October 18 from 10AM to 4PM. Thousands are expected to attend. You can get free admission to Truck Show Latino with this (yes, free!) ticket.
