We are looking for an eager and experienced engineer to join our web and mobile development team in Richmond, VA.

Things you'll be responsible for:

• Creating new and enhancing existing features for the largest load board in the country.
• Developing spry code; object-oriented PHP modules, custom javascript, intricate SQL queries, and anything in between.
• Assisting in the design of crisp, clean, efficient, and intuitive user interfaces.
• Working with open-source software to maintain and update backend servers.
• Collaborate with an efficient, nimble, and talented team of developers, systems engineers, QA experts plus Product, Marketing, and Sales departments as needed.
• Exploring the latest in mobile technologies for iPhone, Android, and mobile web browsers using HTML5 and CSS3.
• Helping to define and drive the development of Getloaded by researching and prototyping new ideas and technologies.

Skills we're looking for:

• A passion for creating beautiful code that seamlessly integrates with our current application design.
• Experience with backend development on high-volume, high-traffic websites that go beyond the basic LAMP/LAPP stack.
• A drive to push the boundaries of what you think is possible with a web based application.
• An eye for design and usability; the ability to create a front-end interface that is simple, elegant, and intuitive.
• Readiness to work with intricate server architectures, and savviness at a command prompt on Linux systems.
• A knack for problem solving and appetite to tackle challenges.
• A good attitude and a desire to work hard and have fun while doing it.

• PHP5 and object-oriented designs
• PostgreSQL pushed to its limits
• jQuery and custom hand-written Javascript
• HTML and CSS, including the latest HTML5 and CSS3
• Asynchronous requests and RESTful web services
• Subversion
• Xcode and Objective-C
• Linux, Apache, and other Open Source projects
• Vim (although a few of us prefer GUI IDE’s like Komodo)

Education: Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Computer Science preferred, plus 3-5 years experience in web and/or mobile development.
