Keeping “Fang” Happy on the Road

You’ve seen “Smoky & The Bandit”, right? If you haven’t, you’re missing out on a 70’s classic. The movie, starring Burt Reynolds, features the Bandit’s sidekick Cletus, who brings his basset hound “Fred” along to pick up and deliver some “special” cargo from Texas to Georgia. Fred was a cutie, and it’s easy to see why truckers find pets great highway companions.

Finding a Place to Rest in Arkansas Difficult; Not As Much in Missouri

Finding a place to get some much-needed rest is still problematic for some truckers, especially since many states have shut down (or are thinking of shutting down) a number of interstate rest stops in the last year.

In Northwest Arkansas for example, some think the highways are a bit more hazardous these days because tired truckers have fewer legal or safe places to pullover.

Will More Spending on Highway Infrastructure Help the Economy?

Canadian Charity Makes a Plea to Trucking Community For Donations

More than a week has passed since the massive magnitude 7.0 earthquake shook Haiti, and medical supplies and other donations are needed more than ever on the ground. Feed the Children Canada (FTCC) is pleading with truckers to help solicit food, water, and medication to help the Haitian children affected by this devastating natural event.

In this season of daily trucking company obits, it’s a pleasure not to write one. YRC Worldwide, the largest trucking company in America, has been rescued from its one-minute-to-midnight demise. The terms are not exactly cause for celebration, but at least relief. And, for those that choose to learn, there lessons aplenty.
